Finns Point Range Light House
Finns Point Range Light House
Located along the Delaware River in Salem County, NJ, Finn’s Point Rear Range Light was established in 1877. Standing 115 feet tall, this skeletal tower is constructed of solid black wrought iron and originally housed a Fresnel lens, which has since been removed. The Front Range Light at Finn’s Point was demolished in the 1930s but later restored in 1983. The rear light was automated in 1934 and decommissioned sixteen years later. The keeper’s quarters, once located separately, have been destroyed. Today, the light is owned by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and is part of the Supawna Meadows National Wildlife Refuge. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Although no longer operational, the lighthouse is open to the public and remains a striking piece of New Jersey’s maritime history.
