Maurice River Cruises
Who would have thought that Millville would become a great tourist attraction? Over the last 20 years, downtown Millville has undergone a remarkable transformation. Right in the center of town, the Maurice River winds its way through, adding to the charm. Believe me when I say that Millville is filled with breathtaking scenery—but you won’t find it along the three state routes (47, 55, or 49) or on the county roads leading to the airport or the racetrack. The best way to experience its beauty is by boat. At the public dock, Captain Dave offers cruises down the Maurice River. As a volunteer at the Historical Society, he provides an informative and engaging tour that highlights the rich history of the area and the vital role the river played in Millville’s development. It only takes a short trip—just half a mile downriver—to discover how stunning Millville truly is. Since the ban on DDT, ospreys and bald eagles have made a remarkable comeback, and their habitats are visible along the cruise. Witnessing these majestic birds and the gorgeous landscape of the river is an unforgettable experience. The cost is very reasonable, especially for kids and senior citizens. So grab your binoculars—or borrow some from Captain Dave and his wonderful staff—and enjoy a delightful journey down the Maurice River.
