Wetlands Institute

The Wetlands Institute in Stone Harbor, New Jersey, offers a wide variety of activities. At its core, the Institute provides opportunities to learn about birds, turtles, and other sea life through engaging presentations in their auditorium. Beyond that, they take visitors out to the beach, where you can see firsthand where turtles bury their eggs and observe the habitats of various marsh animals. For an even more immersive experience, visitors can step into the water to get up close to different species of fish and marsh creatures. You can collect them using nets and then learn about their fascinating lives. We were especially impressed by the amazing staff and interns, who were wonderful with the children. During the vacation season, they also offer guided kayak tours departing from Stone Harbor or Ocean City for an additional fee.
