Connecticut Science Center

From I-91, you can catch a great view of the Connecticut Science Center—and from the museum’s fifth floor, you’ll enjoy a stunning view of the Connecticut River and the highway itself. But there’s far more to this destination than just the scenery. Inside, you’ll find three incredible floors packed with over five hours of fun and educational experiences. The top floor focuses on energy conservation and the use of green energy alternatives to fossil fuels. It also explores Connecticut’s natural and geological features, including a fascinating dinosaur exhibit and a seasonal rooftop garden that’s not to be missed. Descending to the fifth floor, you’ll discover engaging body and health exhibits with hands-on activities. One standout is a 3D multi-view display of the body’s major systems—skeletal, muscular, digestive, nervous, and more. This floor also houses space and robotics exhibits, along with a variety of Rube Goldberg machines. A particularly fun section lets you relax in a comfortable chair and use interactive controls to explore different parts of the galaxy. On the fourth floor, you’ll find rotating travel exhibits and a physics lab showcasing inventive contraptions. Personal favorites include the automatic basketball shooter and the square-wheeled peg car—quirky, clever, and surprisingly educational. The second and third floors are dedicated to administration, while the first floor features ticketing, the IMAX theater, and a kid zone designed for children ages seven and under. It’s also where we stumbled upon a convenient Subway sandwich shop.
