Mystic Aquarium
The Mystic Aquarium is one of our favorite destinations and a must-see attraction when visiting this beautiful part of Connecticut. It features a wide array of exciting indoor and outdoor exhibits where you and your family can easily spend the entire day. As you stroll along the outdoor pathways, you'll explore diverse regions and climates from around the world, ranging from the Arctic to freshwater marshes. The aquarium offers three touch tanks and an abundance of fish and other fascinating marine life exhibits. One of the highlights is the sea lion show, along with the opportunity to play and interact with the incredibly friendly and social Beluga whales. Although the Titanic exhibit has been scaled back, it still provides plenty of intriguing information about its discovery—including the fascinating fact that Dr. Robert Ballard was originally commissioned by the U.S. Navy to locate two missing submarines, which ultimately helped fund the search for the Titanic. The new "Exploration: Wild" exhibit, located in the same area as the Titanic display, showcases creatures and hands-on activities that span environments from the Arctic Ocean to the Amazon rainforest. It’s a fun, kid-friendly addition that adds even more excitement to the aquarium experience.
