Stepping Stone Museum
Steppingstone Museum, located within Susquehanna State Park, preserves and showcases the rural arts and crafts of Harford County from the 1880–1920 period. Its collection highlights domestic arts, skilled trades, and agricultural practices, offering visitors a hands-on glimpse into the region’s heritage. Founded with a mission to educate younger generations, the museum continues to fulfill this goal through guided tours, craft workshops, and interactive programs. Exhibits include a woodwright’s shop, blacksmith shop, decoy carving studio, a restored farmhouse, and a variety of antique farm implements that reflect the ingenuity of rural life. Throughout the year, Steppingstone Museum hosts a range of special events. In May, visitors can experience a Civil War Encampment weekend; in June, the grounds come alive with a Celtic Festival; and in early fall, the beloved Fall Harvest and Craft Festival draws families from near and far. We attend every year—it’s a wonderful event for children of all ages, blending history, creativity, and community spirit.
