Fort Washington Park Lighthouse

Fort Washington Park offers a beautiful and convenient setting for family gatherings and organizational picnics. Throughout the park, tables and grills are available for small groups (14 people or fewer) on a first-come, first-served basis, from park opening until dusk. These areas are designed for small gatherings, and tables may not be moved to accommodate larger groups. All picnic users must comply with park regulations. For groups of 15 or more, a Picnic Permit is required, and a fee applies for use of the designated group picnic areas. These areas must be reserved in advance and will be made available for the exclusive use of the group once the permit is issued. Reservations can be made by phone, but full payment must be received before a permit is granted. Any individual 18 years or older may reserve a picnic area by calling 301-763-4600 or visiting the park’s Visitor Center during regular business hours. Group picnic areas are available rain or shine, and refunds are not issued for inclement weather. No rain dates are offered. The permit holder is responsible for any damage to park property within the reserved area. It is the group’s duty to protect park resources, including trees, flowers, and wildlife, and to maintain order and cleanliness throughout their visit.
