Holiday Lights at the Beach
Holiday Lights at the Beach
Virginia Beach is a destination that truly never sleeps, offering year-round activities and attractions for visitors of all ages. But during the festive holiday season, it transforms into an even more magical experience with its signature light show on the beach. Stretching approximately 20 blocks, the “Cement Walk” is lined with animated light displays on both sides—many towering over 15 feet tall. The show embraces Virginia Beach’s coastal theme, beginning with a Little Mermaid scene featuring a lively crab band led by Sebastian, and culminating in a spectacular King Neptune statue. One of the most dazzling features is a tunnel of 60 illuminated 20-foot circles, creating a mesmerizing effect reminiscent of “Doctor Who” as you drive through. The displays celebrate a variety of religious holidays, including messages like “Keep Christ in Christmas,” and are proudly patriotic, representing one of the seven branches of the armed forces. It would be wonderful to see all six branches included in future displays. There is a per-carload admission fee, making it the perfect opportunity to load up your 3-row SUV and enjoy the show with family and friends. The light show runs from mid-November through early January, offering a stunning visual celebration and a festive atmosphere that’s not to be missed.
