Parris Island Museum

Parris Island Museum

If you're in Buford County and want to enjoy one of South Carolina's historic attractions, then we highly recommend you visit the Parris Island museum. The museum exhibits the stages Marines take to hold the distinguished name along with the history of Parris Island itself. You will also find the history of the Marines Corps and conflicts they were involved in. The museum has an extremely knowledgeable staff consisting of prior service members, ranging from WWII - GWOT era. While they are well versed in the Marine Corps history, the internet self guided tour also provides an amazing experience. While the Crucible is off limits, everything else in the museum is an amazing history lesson to see. A few things to remember while traveling there; the museum is on a base, you will need a valid ID and your vehicle will be subject to search. Also Marine Corps graduations are all day Thursdays and Friday moringins, traffic may be backed up quite a bit, and the internet tower is very hard to log on for the tour.
