Nauticus, is a maritime discovery center that offers a unique and interactive experience for visitors of all ages. Here's a detailed review of what makes Nauticus a must-visit destination. FIRST, there are seven different interactive attractions on the third floor, that make Nauticus a fantastic place for experiential learning. The “Norfolk in Time” attraction are stories of history, culture, science, technology, and industry that showcase Norfolk’s resilience in the face of continual human challenges. “You Can Impact the Landscape” exhibit is a sandbox that allows you to create different mountains, rivers, and landscapes, with a projection screen overlay showing water runoff or storage. “Intrepid” exhibit demonstrates different heights of aircraft, from the Kitty Hawk at 30 feet to the International Space Station at 1.3 million feet. “Mini Aquarium” and “Under the Sea Play Area” attractions are great for younger visitors. The “Our Port Exhibit” attraction is where you can learn about the mouth of the Chesapeake and the types of ships and goods that come in and out. Fun fact: "Red Bull" is one of the top imports, made in Belgium and Austria. “Steward of the Seas “and “Heart of the Navy” are Interactive Navy attractions. “Shipshape Showdown” is an interactive theater exhibit trivia game. “Design, Build, Sail!” is an excellent exhibits on how to sail a boat, perfect for avid sailors and those interested in learning with an extra feature(not with General Admission) is the Schooner Virginia that you can sail on. SECOND Tour the Battleship Wisconsin this amazing floating fortress and explore different areas where sailors lived and worked. The "X-ray" display before you board shows various parts of the ship, making the experience even more insightful. THIRD Hampton Roads Naval Museum is located on the second floor, this museum is an excellent addition to the maritime experience. It is separate from Nauticus and it Free to the public (See Separate Review Below) Nauticus is not just a museum; it's an immersive experience that combines history, science, and hands-on learning in a fun and engaging way.
