College Park Aviation Museum
The College Park Aviation Museum in College Park, Maryland, is located on the grounds of the world’s oldest continuously operating airport. The airfield was established in 1909, when Wilbur Wright arrived to train the first military aviators, marking the beginning of a long legacy of aviation milestones. The museum’s galleries chronicle the airport’s historic significance, featuring both authentic and reproduction aircraft, including a 1911 Wright B and a 1918 Curtiss “Jenny”. Visitors of all ages can enjoy hands-on and interactive exhibits, making it a dynamic destination for families and aviation enthusiasts alike. Monthly rotating exhibits and new programs ensure there’s always something fresh to explore. The museum also houses a restoration facility, dedicated to preserving historic aircraft and constructing historically accurate reproductions. The College Park Airport is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and proudly serves as a Smithsonian Affiliate. Conveniently located next to the WWI/WWII-themed 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant, the museum offers a rich blend of history, education, and entertainment in one remarkable setting.
