Marine Mammal Stranding Center
Marine Mammal Stranding Center
The Marine Mammal Stranding Center of New Jersey is a private, non-profit organization devoted to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of stranded or distressed marine mammals and sea turtles. Since its founding in 1978, this donation- and grant-supported program has saved hundreds of marine animals in need. Located in Brigantine, adjacent to the Historical Museum, the Center is open to the public, with hours that vary by season. The facility includes four distinct buildings: the Sea Life Educational Center, where visitors can explore exhibits on local marine life—including the Observation Tank, which features a captivating display of regional sea creatures; the Animal Rehabilitation Building, equipped with a 30'x12'x4' indoor pool and multiple seal enclosures; the Isolation Building, designed specifically for critically ill animals; and the Administration Building. It’s a remarkable place to visit, and the commitment and compassion of the knowledgeable staff and volunteers make it truly inspiring as they work tirelessly to help marine animals recover and thrive.
