Bayard House
Bayard House
While Maryland is renowned for its crab dishes, the Bayard House elevates that reputation to new heights. For appetizers, we were especially fond of the Fried Oysters, Crab Dip, and the award-winning Maryland Vegetable Crab Soup—a tomato-based masterpiece simmered with minced vegetables, a blend of savory spices, and topped with lump crab meat. For the main course, seafood lovers should indulge in the Tournedos Baltimore—a decadent pairing of a lobster cake glazed in champagne sauce and a crab cake basted in Madeira sauce, both served atop tender filet medallions. This entrée comes with warm fresh bread, broiled vegetables, and homemade smashed red potatoes. And when it’s time for dessert, loosen those belts—because you won’t want to miss the Crème Brûlée or the hot Kentucky Pie, served with ice cream to complement its rich, chocolate cookie flavor. For a romantic or intimate experience, request a table upstairs to enjoy panoramic views of the canal and passing ships. Prefer a more casual vibe? Head to the Watering Hole on the first floor for a cozy pub atmosphere. Either way, the food is exceptional, the ambiance is charming, and the service is second to none.
