Cape May Fire Museum

Cape May Fire Museum

In the historic town of Cape May, the fire department has built a small colonial-style museum to showcase a 1928 American LaFrance fire engine, along with other vintage engines, photographs, and pieces of firefighting history. Right next door stands their modern firehouse, equipped with the latest technology. However, what’s truly fascinating is their continued use of the Gamewell Diaphone, a cog system from the 1920s. This system rings a bell a specific number of times to inform firefighters about the fire's location. So, while enjoying the mall walk in Cape May, take a few extra steps to visit this free museum and witness a charming blend of the old and the new coming together
