Piazza Sorrento
The Collura family of Hershey runs one of the most family-friendly restaurants we've had the pleasure of reviewing. A highlight of the experience is Pete, who often steps over from his pizza shop to sing classic Italian songs, accompanied by his trusty accordion-playing sidekick. Together, they managed to entertain our 2-year-old son for two full hours, giving us the chance to thoroughly enjoy their wonderful seasonal menu. We began with their crisp, fresh calamari and a homemade ricotta and mozzarella spinach dip, baked hot and served with freshly made bread. Another standout appetizer featured seasonal tomatoes paired with their famous mozzarella—simple, fresh, and delicious. My husband couldn’t stop raving about Chef Pete’s Veal Marsala and his Sicilian Seafood Soup, while I indulged in the Seafood Cioppino, loaded with scallops, mussels, and jumbo shrimp in a rich red sauce over spaghetti, served with garlic toast. For the kids, the fried shrimp in a light tempura coating was a hit—our daughter loved it. And to finish, we were treated to the creations of what we believe is the best pastry chef in Dauphin County. Since their dessert menu changes weekly, our advice is simple: try anything hot and chocolatey served with ice cream—you won’t be disappointed. Whether you're stopping in for dinner, sampling the lunch buffet, or enjoying one of their two styles of parlor pizza, dining at either of Sorrento’s two locations is sure to be a memorable and satisfying experience.
