Georgetown Train Station
Georgetown Train Station
The Georgetown Train Station was originally built around 1868, when railroad service first came to Georgetown. Its current restoration, completed in 2003 by the Historic Georgetown Association, was a meticulous effort to return the structure to its original 19th- and early 20th-century condition and appearance. Several thousand board feet of lumber dating back to 1865 were salvaged, with the finest pieces used in the restoration. Twenty-two thousand original paver bricks were repurposed to veneer the building’s exterior and loading docks. Enough old floor joists—many over 135 years old—were recovered to fully restore the second story. Today, the building serves as a museum, featuring an original cashier’s window, vintage lanterns, calendars, display cases, and a variety of historical items generously loaned by local residents.
