Howell Living History Farm

Howell Living History Farm

The Mercer County Park Commission operates Howell Farm as a living historical site, offering visitors an immersive glimpse into life on a typical family farm in the region between 1890 and 1910. Open year-round for self-guided tours, school group visits, and weekend family programs, the farm invites guests to take part in authentic seasonal activities such as ice harvesting, maple sugaring, sheep shearing, pumpkin picking, and dozens of other hands-on tasks rooted in traditional farm operations. The farm’s annual calendar features monthly hayrides—or sleigh rides in winter—weekly craft programs for children, and New Jersey’s only horse-drawn plowing match. Each fall, Howell Farm hosts an elaborate corn maze fundraiser, with proceeds supporting preservation efforts in the surrounding Pleasant Valley Rural Historic District.
