The Oxhead Tavern is only a few minutes from the Mass Pike or I 84 and it's worth the quick detour if you’re traveling in that area. Located on the premises of the Sturbridge Host Hotel, they have great food in a casual environment. Stop in and enjoy a nice family dinner while taking in the sunset over Cedar Lake. Start off with their New England Clam Chowder or their soup of the day. Their must try entrées are the Pistachio Crusted Salmon, the beer battered Fish and Chips (which you may want to even substitute the chips for their amazing mashed potatoes) and the best, most tender and flavorful Yankee Pot Roast we’ve ever had. We dined in their screened in porch so as to fully experience the lake view but their log cabin style dining room seemed equally impressive. While enjoying the sunset we finished our meal with some sweet bread pudding and Apple crisp al a mode. The family friendly staff and comfortable setting made for a very nice experience at the Oxhead Tavern.
