Central Vermont is a great place for the nature lover to go to. If you are in the Woodstock area we suggest a trip to the Vermont Institute of Natural Sciences, or VINS. Their primary function is a bird sanctuary, but as with a lot of sanctuaries, they have created a great attraction for the public and have done it right. The staff and their handlers put on awesome shows for any age visitor. They also have nature trails that extend out to the west side of the Quechee Gorge and upriver from the damn. Just do is a dinosaur exhibit that also shows how birds evolved from these fantastic creatures. And last but not least they have one of the best sculpture gardens in the state. So if you are just driving through or you want to enjoy nature make a stop at VINS and have a fantastic time.
