911 Museum (Below)

When coming to New York there are 2 amazing venues to remember the 9/11 tragedy. First, visitors can see the Memorial pools which are above ground and are free to the public. The 9/11 museum has a fee and security check then you can take a self-guided and/or audio tour but we recommend the guided tour that takes you seven floors down to an 8 acre bedrock site under the pools. It's an amazing experience. Exhibit 1 includes a picture of every single victim with an interactive console with information about them and their family. The museum also has an auditorium and many artifacts including fire trucks, a piece of the old antenna and the original Steel Trident girders were both planes hit. There's a lot of special artifacts from families and an amazing time line that shows you before and after of 9/11. They offer several audio tours that are very moving. Photographs are allowed but not in the exhibits where families have made donations, as a sign of respect. It took almost 10 years to complete this Museum and it was worth the wait for one of the most moving tribute museums I've visited in the United States.
