Fairbanks Museum & Planetarium

There are two fun filled, educational parts of the Fairbanks Museum: one is the Nature Center and the other is the planetarium. You can visit one alone or combine both together I like this concept because you can tailor your visit to meet your mood or audience. If you're interested in minerals, rocks and exploring animals up close then the Nature Center is perfect for you. They have a great collection of Taxidermy local species as well as rare and popular gems and minerals. However, the most intriguing part of the museum is the intricate oak woodwork architecture reminiscent of an old church like feel with over 5 different spiral staircases. Any architectural fanatic would just love it. They also have a great little hands on place the little tikes. Then if you are have children around third grade and above then your children are sure to be interested in the planetarium. Their amazingly knowledgeable staff run at least two different shows a day. Our 9 year old put the host through the ringer with a thousand space and astrology questions and he was on the ball. So whether a child, a teenager or an adult there's lots to do at this little nature museum in St. Johnsbury.
