In the southern part of Connecticut is a great little hands-on museum for elementary school age kids called the Discovery Museum. As an adult I actually like this kind of thing too, especially the energy and space exhibits. One of the unique things about their space exhibit is the Mission Control Center and the To the Moon exhibit. With three levels of fun, including a planetarium with great shows, come out and visit. Additionally, for any age, is the discovery treetop exhibit, not included in the regular admission but well worth it
