Hancock Shaker Village
Hancock Shaker Village

In the Berkshires was a community of Shakers who lived among themselves. They lived a life of poverty and chastity and supported themselves on the land. Today, the village remains a working farm with animals and vegetable gardens as well as several working manufacturing shops and a mill powered by water that instead of a wheel, uses an underground pipe system that taps into the mountain stream. They also have many captivating activities for the kids, including the Discovery Barn, scavenger hunt and nature trails. We recommend spending the entire day, have lunch in their cafe (separate review) and enjoy this great educational and family experience in the Berkshires.
