Marine Mammal Stranding Center
Marine Mammal Stranding Center

The Marine Mammal Stranding Center of New Jersey is a private, non-profit organization whose mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and release stranded or distressed marine mammals and sea turtles. Since its founding in 1978, this donation and grant-funded program has saved hundreds of marine animals in need. The Center is located in Brigantine next to the Historical Museum and is open to the public with hours varying by season. It is composed of four buildings: the Sea Life Educational Center where you can learn about the marine life of the area (Be sure to see the Observation Tank which houses a fascinating exhibit of local marine life.), the Animal Rehabilitation Building which includes a 30'x12'x4' indoor pool as well as several seal enclosures, an Isolation Building for animals that are critically ill and the Administration Building. It's a fascinating place to visit and it's wonderful to see the dedication and determination of the friendly staff and volunteers who are helping animals to recover and thrive.
