Patterson Park and Museum
Patterson Park and Museum

Off the beaten path in Calvert County between Route 4 and the Patuxent River is one of the battle sites of the War of 1812 at Jefferson Patterson Park. Admission is free but they do take donations. They have exceptional, interactive exhibits for the kids. There is also an amazing exhibit on the War of 1812, a great hands-on exhibit of farming in Maryland, and many archaeological exhibits. They also have a great Indian Village where you can use your phone for an audio tour. Our favorite part was enjoying a stroll along the Patuxent River and taking in the beautiful breeze. Jefferson Patterson Park offers a lot of themed events for the family like a reenactment of the War of 1812 in September or Family Farm Days in June. It's a very fun and educational place to visit in Calvert County.
