Jennie Wade House
Jennie Wade House

Jennie Wade was the only civilian that was killed during the 3-day battle of Gettysburg. She was at her sister's house where she helped union soldiers. The house was strategically located on top of a hill for the union soldiers to defend the confederate soldiers. Unfortunately, Jenny was behind two wooden doors, bent over, making bread when a bullet penetrated both doors and struck her in the back. During your visit to the Jennie Wade House Museum you will experience step by step the events that occurred at the time of her death and you will get a good perspective on how she helped the Union Soldiers and how amazing that the rest of the family survived the 3 day battle at Gettysburg given that their home was literally caught in the cross fire.
