Eisenhower National Historic Site

Dwight Eisenhower is famous as a WW2 General, United States President and for orchestrating the development of our nation’s Interstate System. So there are not many Americans who journey to Gettysburg who will turn down an opportunity to visit the Eisenhower Farm. Your trip begins at the National Visitor’s center where you are taken to the farm via bus. During his term, Eisenhower suffered a heart attack and the farm home became a temporary White House with his very small 4’ by 8’ office becoming the oval office. Kids will enjoy the visit to the farm as well. Children visiting the site with their family may become Junior Secret Service Agents by completing the activities in the Junior Secret Service Training Manual provided at the site. New agents are awarded a badge and certificate. The tour also includes a 30 minute program about the American infantry soldier who served under General Eisenhower during the D-Day invasion. Visitors are offered a close-up look at the weapons, equipment, and uniform parts that the soldiers were issued for the invasion, including some pieces unique to D-Day. The tour exposes you to the life of the General, the President, and the family man. We definitely recommend you to see this 5 star place that Dwight and Mamie called home. You may be surprised to find a lot of pink décor inside, causing us to speculate that he might have been a highly influential and powerful man, but Mamie was the Queen of the castle.
