Lightship Overfalls
Lightship Overfalls

Launched from a Maine shipyard in 1938 as part of the Coast Guard lightship fleet, this 114-foot, diesel-powered boat guided vessels primarily in Massachusetts and Connecticut with a light affixed atop a central mast. It was decommissioned in 1973, then acquired by the Lewes Historical Society and is currently being restored by the Overfalls Maritime Museum Foundation. Currently, it’s berthed near the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal on Front Street where it serves as a museum.
