Chesapeake Exploration Center
Chesapeake Exploration Center

“Our Chesapeake Legacy,” located at the Chesapeake Exploration Center in the Kent Narrows, is a hands-on display that provides an educational and entertaining experience for visitors while they learn about the distinctive natural habitat and cultural heritage of the Chesapeake Bay region. See how man has left his mark on the fragile environment of the Bay over time. Find fossils in a refrigerator that are evidence of prehistoric species and trade beads in a desk drawer that Native Americans might have used to get supplies from colonial settlers. See how the tobacco economy built our churches, how farming and commercial fishing have evolved and see the construction of the first Bay Bridge on film. Find out what you can do to help save the Bay. Visitors can also explore the entire span of Maryland's history and spend a full day, or just a few hours touring Queen Anne's County's historic sites using the free History and Heritage Guide Map. The Chesapeake Exploration Center is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. School and group tours are welcome!
