Fort Washington Park offers a great setting for family and organizational picnics. There are tables and grills for small groups throughout the park and available for use on a first-come first-served basis from the time the park opens until dark. These areas are only set up for small groups (14 or less) and tables cannot be moved to accommodate larger groups. All picnic users are responsible for complying with park regulations A Picnic Permit is required for all groups of 15 or more. There is a fee for the group picnic areas. The group picnic areas must be reserved in advance and will be made available for the exclusive use of the group once the permit is issued. Reservations can be made by phone but full payment must be received prior to a permit being issued. Any person, 18 years or older, may reserve a picnic area by calling 301-763-4600 or stopping by the park Visitor Center during normal working hours. Group picnic areas will be available for the groups exclusive use, rain or shine. Refunds will not be made for weather and no rain dates offered. Permit holder is liable for all damages to park property located within the reserved area. It is the responsibility of the group to protect park property, preserve trees, flowers and all wildlife; maintain order and keep the area in a clean orderly condition
