Lookout Point State Park /Civil War Museum
There is much to see at the Point Lookout State Park . The lighthouse, i at the tip of the Point. The earth works of Fort Lincoln, a Civil War fortification, still exist on the river shore near Cornfield Harbor. The barracks and officer quarters of the Fort and a portion of the prison pen have been recreated by the Friends of Point Lookout and are the focus of Living History weekends each year. Point Lookout sponsors historic programs and demonstrations throughout the year. Popular annual festivities include in May “Blue and Gray Days,” featuring artillery and infantry demonstrations, dress parade and evening programs in Fort Lincoln. July-August come and see the living history character portrayals of confederate Civil War soldiers. There are also recreational opportunities abound on this picturesque peninsula formed by the Chesapeake Bay and the Potomac River. Swimming, fishing, boating and camping are just a few of the activities to be enjoyed in this beautiful bay setting.
