Snowsport School
Franconia Notch State Park is a summer oasis but is also home to the best ski school on Cannon Mountain. Irv and his staff are amazing instructors. Three years ago our then 13 year old nephew and first time skier attended the school and by the afternoon was already on the intermediate slopes. The facility at Cannon Mountain is also superb and they pride themselves on keeping the trails well groomed. The school is right next to a circle trail and lifts to all slopes, including beginner trails. This integration is a big reason why kids can learn at an accelerated pace. There are morning, afternoon and all day lessons for tots, kids, teenagers, adults, and seniors of all skiing levels. The tot program is a terrific play and ski daycare for the little ones and all groups of students can choose to spend the remainder of the day skiing independently or with their parents. On Saturdays they have an extra family fun night where parents can leave the kids at the school for movie, popcorn and other activities while they can relax for a couple of hours at the lodge. This year we were again very impressed with the Cannon Mountain Ski School when we brought our first and third graders up to learn how to ski. It was a great experience.
