Lucy The Elephant
Lucy The Elephant

Lucy the Margate Elephant is one of the most unique, fun tourist attractions we've ever come across. Standing 65-foot high, her colorful presence commands the coast of southern New Jersey's shore. As the only example of zoomorphic architecture remaining in the United States, this 125-year-old 90-ton mammoth pachyderm has been painstakingly restored to the beautiful structure you see today. Thousands tour Lucy every summer and it's "The Only Elephant You Can Walk Through And Come Out Alive!" She resides in an exciting area to visit with lots of interesting things for the family. Kids young and old, and adults for that matter, will be inspired by her history as well as hearing the story of the dedicated people who constructed her. Remember, in the late 1800's there were no power tools to make the job easy on the workers. You'll find yourself humming that familiar tune “Lucy the Elephant, Lucy the Elephant….” and leave with a smile on yours and your family's faces after a visit to this historic landmark.
