Cape May Fire Museum
Cape May Fire Museum

In the historic town of Cape May, the fire department has built a small colonial style museum to house a 1928 American Lafrance fire engine as well as other vintage engines, photographs and other pieces of fire fighting history. Their modern firehouse with all of the latest technology is next door but what is amazing is that they continue to use the Gamewell Diaphone, a cog system from the 1920’s that will ring a bell a number of times to let the fire fighters know what vicinity the fire is in. So, when you’re enjoying the mall walk of Cape May, take a few extra steps and stop by this free museum to see the old, the new and the two merged together
